AVIATOR’S
FRACTURE
Fractue of neck of
talus ( a foot bone)
due to forceful dorsiflexion of foot
Why is it named as aviator’s fracture?
The fracture was frequently seen in aircraft crashes during landing.
As the plane comes to a
sudden stop, the rudder bar or the floor board is driven forcibly against the middle of the sole of the
foot.
